 Aloha!

My name is Vera Yamanaka and I am privileged to be your child's Kindergarten teacher.  Hale Kula Elementary has been my second home for over twenty years.  Last year our school's name was officially named after our state senator, Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School.  My first position in the DOE was educating Kindergarteners in Wahiawa.  Since coming to Hale Kula, I have taught Fourth graders, then spent the majority of my years teaching First grade.  I have also been the librarian and instructed students and assisted teachers as an RTI Literacy Coach.

I am happy to be a co-coach of the Cyborg Eagles, our Robotics Team for upper grade students.  Students solve problems and compete using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Away from school, I enjoy traveling with my husband and being with friends and family.  I believe in balancing work and play, so I play tennis and golf.  Both provide me exercise and time to be with friends.

Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School is a wonderful school with many opportunities.  We are fortunate to have a renovated classroom and new buildings in construction.  I hope you and your family take advantage of all we offer to make this year an inspiring start to your child's formal education.

Your partner in your child's education,

                                                                                                                                       Vera M. Yamanaka
